From Smart Grids to Cell Towers and Beyond

UTEC provides turnkey underground electric transmission construction maintenance and emergency response services nationwide.

When the city of Boston needed to be connected to major electric power sources by a 345kV transmission line that went under the Mystic River, over the Gilmore Bridge, and then under the Charles River and Boston Common, they called the company that sets the standard for excellence in underground transmission systems: UTEC.

Founded in 1970, UTEC Constructors provides the highest quality expertise and services in underground high voltage electrical transmission construction. Services provided include turnkey high voltage underground transmission, installations of high-pressure fluid-filled (HPFF) and high-pressure gas filled (HPGF) pipe-type cables, and splicing from 69kV – 345kV. In addition, UTEC performs XLPE installations of cable and conduits as well as underground distribution installations.

Using its specialized equipment and cutting-edge technical expertise, UTEC’s talented and dedicated teams have performed thousands of splices over the past decades. Most recently, an East Coast utility customer relied upon UTEC to successfully deliver a single cable pull that, from manhole to manhole, was over 7,000 feet in distance.
